Fully Utilize your Jailbroken Device: Apps & Hacks
If your iDevice, be it your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad is jailbroken, the following collection of apps and hacks will ensure that you are fully utilizing your iDevice to its potential! What would be the use of jailbreaking it if you didn't take advantage of all it has to offer.
If your iDevice is not yet jailbroken, hop on over to the jailbreak tutorial.
Before the collection begins, the following are the repositories that I use within cydia as sources for all of my jailbreak applications and hacks. I suggest you add this list to your sources within cydia to extend your library. Also, some sources may be required to find some of the apps or hacks in the following list.
BigBoss: http://thebigboss.org/repo.xml/
iSpazio: http://ispaziorepository.com/
ModMyi.com: http://apt.modmyi.com/
macOSmovil: http://apt.macosmovil.com/
SOS iPhone Cydia: http://cy.sosiphone.com/
To install a new source in cydia, launch cydia. Then navigate to manage, and select sources. Using the edit button, the option to "app" will appear.
#1: Five Icon Dock - Adds a 5th icon to your dock.
#2: Five-Column SpringBoard - Adds a 5th column to your SpringBoard pages.

#3: SBSettings - SBSettings is an iDevice settings/manager app that gives you quick access to all of your switches and settings. A quick swipe of your top status bar brings a floating settings panel into view giving you toggles to things such as network, ssh, location, and brightness. It also allows you to view which programs are running and terminate them.

#4: PkgBackup - PkgBackup backs up all of your applications installed through cydia, and syncs them to your computer next time you sync with itunes. If you have to restore, simply reinstall PkgBackup through cydia and then hit restore. This is essential to prevent data loss and save you time after a restore!

#5: iRealSMS - If your iDevice happens to be an iPhone, this application is a must for the frequent text message sender. This app allows you to send/reply/receive text messages from anywhere and without having to close out of an app. You can even send a text message on your lock screen!

#6: Backgrounder - The #1 requested addition to the iPhone OS firmware, and the #1 refused upgrade to said firmware by Apple is the ability to minimize programs, thus allowing you to run multiple programs at once. This makes it possible.

#7: CyDelete - This adds normal delete functionality to applications installed through cydia. You no longer have to launch cydia to delete an app. Hold your finger over an app to get them into "wiggle" mode, and jailbreak apps will now have a red "x" on them so that you can delete them directly from the springboard! Deletion takes place seamlessly in the background.

#8: OpenSSH - OpenSSH allows advanced users Secure Shell access to the root of their device via their computer. Tutorial coming soon.
#9: iBlueNova - iBlueNova gives your iDevice the ability to send and receive files over a bluetooth connection with other devices, a functionality that apple neglected to include.

#10: Universal Search - Universal Search makes the spotlight feature on your iDevice what it was meant to be shipped! Spotlight will no longer only search your device, but many online resources as well including: Google, Wikipedia, Twitter, Google Maps, IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, CNN, Webster Dicitonary, Urban Dictionary, Yelp!, ESPN, and many more.

#11: MyWi - MyWi turns your phone into a wireless hotspot. Wireless tethering is now reality using MyWi. You can edit the network name, and even put a password on it. MyWi allows other devices to connect to your phones data connection wirelessly, providing you with internet on the go!

I encourage you to discuss any of my choice or selections in the comments below, and to recommend apps and hacks to be added to this list to help other users fully utilize their jailbroken iDevices.

I definitely agree with your choice of Backgrounder. With my Pandora addiction, Backgrounder was a necessary application for my day-to-day life.

I use backgrounder with Pandora every day as well. It was terrible before jailbreaking. Having to listen to Pandora, and ONLY Pandora. I couldn’t even send a text message without the music stopping. Such a pain.
